How to make a Windows XP SP3 installer CD?

This post is about how to create a Windows XP SP3 installer CD. I’m gonna tell you step by step how to make it. There’s an article which my method based on:
1.: Make a folder named as XPCD and copy your entire XP installer CD into the folder. Important: Use Windows Commander and make sure you have selected all file attribute for copying.
My example folder name is ‘C:\XPCD’
2.: Download the SP3 service pack to the computer. Search for the file ‘WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86…something…exe’. Do not move or copy it.
3.: Extract the service pack with the old installer files:
There’s an usable article which describes it well, but I did it in a bit different way. The article can be viewed here:
Well, create a folder named as SP3 for the extracted SP3 files. For example it can be ‘C:\XPSP3’.
Then click on Start menu. Type this: D:\Thefolderwhereyousavedthesp3file\windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu.exe –x
An extraction box appears and you have to write the path where you want to extract the files. Type ‘C:\XPSP3’ (or where you saved the SP3 pack. I just use my example in the next lines)
4.: The next step is stripsteaming (integrating) the SP3 files to the old installer stuff. Click on start menu and type this:
Consider there’s no space after ‘integrate:’
A confirmation window will show something like this: ‘integrating completed succesfully’ if everything went okay.
5.: After integrating we need to copy the boot image file from the original installer CD. We need to download a software which can do it. For example there’s a program named as BBIE (Bart’s Boot Image Extractor) which can do this. I downloaded it from this site:
Download and open the zip file which contains the executable program file. Then extract it to a folder named as ‘C:\BBIE’
Run a command line window (I think ‘start menu’ and ‘run’ also works) and type: ‘C:\BBIE x:’
x is the drive in which there’s the Windows XP installer CD.
There will be a message for selecting the source of the ‘image1.bin’ Boot image file to save. Just save it to ‘C:\BBIE’ and simply close the command line window.
6.: Burn the CD! Requirements from the CD burner software is to be able to make a bootable CD using a boot image file. You can use any software which can do this. The article writer used Nero Burning ROM, I used Magic iso.
Good luck for your CD!
